Spring Break Days 1-3

In the past I have always had grand dreams of fun spring breaks with my kids, but for some lame excuse or another we end up being lazy and do nothing worth remembering. This year I was determined to change that. So the boys and I put our heads together and came up with a theme for every day. Then we came up with as many "cost efficient" activities as we could to go along with the theme. I've gotta say, it was definitely a fun week. Here's some little snippets of the things we did...

Day One: ARTISTS DAY

We started off the day by going to the library and looking at all the art work in the books. The kids chose some books with their favorite art work to check out. When we got home we had quiet time for about an hour to read our new library books. After that we gathered all our broken crayons and made huge homemade bunny crayons.

After crayon making, we put our own artist skills to the test and made paper bag puppets.

That night we connected with our inner rock star artist and played Rock Band.

Day Two: HOLLYWOOD DAY

For this day we decided to have a movie marathon. We were going to watch all the movies in a series, but none of us could agree on one. Isaac wanted to watch all the Rocky's, Luke wanted to watch all the SpongeBob's, and I wanted to watch all the Harry Potter's. So we decided to go with a theme instead. We each got to pick a movie that was silly. So we started off the day with Isaac's pick, Baby Genius'. When that was over we made 3 different types of popcorn. Extra Butter, Cheese, and Almond Bark. When the popcorn was ready we stuck in the second movie which was Luke's pick, Funky Monkey. When that was over we took a break and made a puppet a show with our puppets we made the day before. (sorry no pics). Then we stuck in Maya's movie pick, Pee Wee's Big Adventure. After this movie was over we were all movie'd out. Thankfully, that was about a half an hour before Matt got home, so we quickly made arrangements to have our own Project Runway ready for him when he got home. Day Three: BACKWARDS DAY

We had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for breakfast and omelets for dinner. The boys wore their shirts backwards and walked backwards all through Walmart. The boys made me lunch, instead of me making it for them. Then instead of staying home, they went to friends houses to play. What a nice day!
